Fantasy Fiction

Readership for fantasy fiction is vast. Learn how to write a page-turner that will appeal to young and old alike, and pick up some tips on how to make your fantasy world as real as the one you live in with Prabh Mokha, author of The Last Sanctuary.  Even if you don’t intend to write a fantasy novel, this will be an informative, enlightening and entertaining session.

The Art of Literary Conversation
11.45am – 12.45pm

Exciting writing inspires conversation – and over lunch today you can share your views on a variety of literary subjects with your fellow diners. The discussion is guided by a series of questions aimed at connecting the value of reading to one’s own life. Lunch prices range from $12 to $24. Order on arrival.

Legends Literary Bus Tour
1.00 – 4.30pm
Saturday 14 September
Whanganui has been home, or played host, to many writers, a visitor in the late 19th century with strong views about the memorials at Moutoa Gardens. Among many, Janet Frame, James K. Baxter, Sylvia Ashton-Warner, Robin Hyde and Ian Cross were inspired by the region. Visit the sites they inhabited and hear their stories. Includes afternoon tea at the home of local author, Valerie Cowan.
